America and Canada's culture has been majorly affected by the hippie movement of 1960's to early 1970's. It made people rebel against fighting an immoral war like the war against Vietnam. People started demanding a new morality in politics. Women rights became an even more controversial topic due to the Hippie Movement. Gay Rights became a controversial topic. It made people want a more realistic approach to education because they became more sensitive to the tactics of learning. It also led to a new found awareness in society; more people became aware of the environment and that we need to change our ways to help out the environment. The Hippie Movement also led to a new awareness of health and more people watched what they ate and also worked out because they became self-conscious. It also led to a new type of trending music, a lot of bands used an electronic type of music to become a popular band. There was also a new type of fashion caused by the hippie movement: people started to wear more colors; sometimes rainbows or tie-dye, and less articles of clothing or more skimpy clothing. Also a new racial time came with this movement; a new look at black people came, and they weren't always frowned upon for being dark skinned; the saying "Black is Beautiful" surfaced and caused a little more equality between the black and white ethnicity.
